In a recent Art Appreciation Group presentation, Bill Duffield discussed the relationship between Poetry and Art. He gave several examples where poets had used specific paintings as inspiration for their poetry.
We thought it would be interesting to find out how our members would respond to the Jackson Pollock painting "Blue Poles", which is part of the collection of the National Gallery of Australia.
Look at the painting shown below, and see how it affects you. Then, try to describe your emotions in writing in the textbox at the bottom of the page.
You don't need to write a rhyming poem. Just write down your
thoughts, concentrating on the emotional response you feel when you
look at this painting. The idea is to express your emotions.
